![]() Day Detail1. Breakfast:Washington Jesuit Academy provides breakfast for its students daily. 2. Morning AssemblyWashington Jesuit Students and faculty meet every morning to begin their day with focus and a sense of community. 3. ReadingThe average standardized reading scores of WJA students increase 17 percentage points in two years. 4. MathematicsAt Washington Jesuit Academy, small class size allows teachers to tailor courses to the students' needs, whether it is help with multiplication tables, or grasping more difficult algebraic concepts. At WJA students are in an environment where they are encouraged to ask questions or request several explanations. The WJA math program solidifies computational skills and teaches students to apply these skills to word problems, whether it is determining the best buy or calculating their favorite quarterback's pass completion. 5. Morning Recess and Advisory GroupsRecess and Advisory Groups is a time for students to play, relax, and to connect with their advisors. 6. ScienceThe Science Curriculum at WJA covers a wide range of scientific topics including evolution, earth and life science. Technology is an integral part of the science curriculum. Students are taught to use websites for research and useful models and diagrams. 7. Social StudiesThe Social Studies curriculum begins with ancient history, where students learn about the foundations of civilization. Students study world history and American history. 8. LunchWashington Jesuit Academy provides a hot lunch for its students daily. There is also a weekly Art Lunch, where students draw, paint, and listen to classical music. 9. Religious StudiesIn the Jesuit tradition, the religious curriculum at Washington Jesuit Academy encourages an understanding of all religions. 10. Language ArtsThe language arts program at Washington Jesuit Academy teaches students to understand and use the English language. With grammar included in the curriculum for each year, students learn the structure of language, as skill that will aid them in the study of foreign languages in high school. Through homework assignments, students are taught to speak and write articulately. As a result of the language arts program, standardized language scores increase 20.5 percentage points over two years. 11. Math and Reading Supplement and ElectivesThe supplement and elective program gives students an opportunity to improve their skills in math or reading, or to learn more about art and music. 12. Sports, Clubs, and RecreationWJA students participate in the Center City Consortium basketball league. Clubs include the Stock Market club, Cooking club, and Newspaper club. 13. DinnerWashington Jesuit Academy offers a hot dinner daily. 14. Study HallMandatory study hall is held from 5:30 to 7:30 every day. |
