Meet our New Assistant Headmaster
Mr. Brian Becker is a proud product of Jesuit education having attended Gonzaga College High School and then returning to teach at his alma mater for seven years before joining WJA. Brian taught English at Gonzaga and served as coordinator for the New Teacher program. He won the Gonzaga New Teacher of the Year award and was a leader of the Ignatian Identity Faculty Group. Also during his time at Gonzaga, Brian initiated the Irish Studies Program and New Teacher’s Advisory Committee, coached football, moderated the Cooking and Ping-Pong clubs, and earned two masters degrees from St. John’s College and Catholic University.
“What drew me most to WJA was the opportunity to work with great people – both students and faculty – who are committed to creating a positive educational environment with a focused mission that remain constantly open to growth.” Brian stated, “While it was tough for me to leave the close-knit Gonzaga community, I look forward to working within the WJA family for years to come.”
New WJA Headmaster, Marcus Washington, commented, “Brian truly embraces our mission and possesses a wide variety of skills that will enrich our school… I am eager to move forward as a leadership team and do great things for the Academy.”
Welcome to WJA, Mr. Becker!
