WJA Kicks-off 10th Year Celebration with FUN!

On September 18th, our WJA family came together to kick-off our 10th year celebration with a Community Day and Festival in partnership with the John Thompson III Foundation.  WJA students enjoyed lessons from the Georgetown University crew and golf teams, and went head to head with the Georgetown University Men’s basketball team both on the court and on the football field.  Families and guests posed for caricature artists, won prizes at various carnival games, and enjoyed delicious and healthy food.  Some WJA moms even took center stage as the DJ played the Cupid Shuffle!

Dozens of WJA alumni and their families returned to the Academy to catch-up with each other and visit with teachers and staff.  Blair Meek (WJA ’06) made rounds as our first WJA Alumni Association Chair.  Blair called on his fellow Alumni to stay connected to each other and to the Academy, “There are WJA graduates who are doing amazing things, and it’s important for us to stay united.”

We would like to say a special THANK YOU to Coach John Thompson III and his wife, Monica for their partnership in this event, and more importantly for all of the support they have given the Academy over the years!
